Welcome
This is my personal invitation from me to peruse our new website. This is the painstaking work of Lance Wisdom 6th dan. Our previous site www.tfam.com was the wonderful contribution of Greg Callahan 1st dan over eleven years ago and was still considered a state of the art site until recent technology opened the door to so much more.
The new site offers the basic functions that present our Art and our legacy for your review but also provides an unprecedented gallery of historical photos, videos, awards and credentials though which we have authenticated our claims and resumes.
Only the name ‘Gozan Academy’ is relatively new. I have been teaching independently for 35 years under the names of Saito Ninjistu and the Fu Family Wushu. Mr. Saito has passed on, his son Mark Jr. now focuses on the Healing Arts and the second son, Hans, has taken an un recognizable path and has no affiliation with this Academy nor its teachings.
Over the years, in depth training in several Chinese systems and the continuous exposure to experts and masters throughout the Martial Arts community have influenced my emphasis and contributed to my own evolution. Life experiences in the military and government careers have also been integrated into my present program. ‘Gozan’ is a work in progress that I, myself, must assume responsibility for. How and why my martial way is now presented is a reflection of my own choices and I am confident it represents a fundamentally sound basis as well as a wonderful openness that will contribute greatly to the future of Martial Arts.
The site will offer a few ways for you to get to know us better. We will soon offer a “membership” to the site which will include a short discussion on topics of the Arts, a periodic video of instruction and a demo of the art in action. We may include a conversation or question and answer feature for members who want to hear directly from me. I am not seeking pen-pals but I do recognize that my perspective on an issue burning in your head may help sometimes.
Finally, this site will be continuously updated as to promote demonstration, seminars, workshops and retreats that are open to the public. My students are involved in programs of their own, there will be no shortage of news – so, enjoy and check in often.
Sincerely,
Shannon Kawika Phelps
